On a cold day in March, I spent some time with the crew working the Dombås base of Norwegian Air Ambulance (Norsk luftambulanse). Chief pilot Morten Jystad explained to me the inner workings of an EC 135 helicopter. Anaesthesiologist John Ouchterlony shared some great insights and tips from his experience with children as patients. Rescuer Håkon Nordseth, having been in the game for some time, had a lot of interesting stories from previous missions. We also shared an interest in photography.
My enthusiasm for emergency medicine was re-fueled, and my fascination for flying work-places took off (pun intended, please excuse aviation analogies). Here are few photographs from the base.
